Sowwy

Today's lyric:
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
"Rubber band motor hummin' on the beach ready for fun
Quit spinning that web and come out and play in the sun
Eight thimble-sized cylinders be as smooth as you please
Spider's badass fat ol' abdomen stuck in the bucket seat."

Presidents ot the U.S.A.: "Dune buggy"
From the album: "The Presidents of the United States of America"

Always makes me smile

I understand that us embattled and embittered commuters are to get enhanced modes de transporte? Around 2014?

By then, I'll likely have joined that happy band of 'always on', 24/7 drones who are in permanent, virtual conference via secreted speakers built into the home, enabling us to receive instructions and still 'get the goss'

("Ooh, I could snog his face off*, he's so gorge").

What a miss that'd be...

Have a great (St. Paddy's) weekend, y'all.

*Fcuk his brains** out.

**like you'd need brains for that particular 'exercise'?

No white wash

Today's lyric:
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
"I hate the army an' I hate the RAF
I don't wanna go fighting in the tropical heat
I hate the civil service rules
And I won't open letter bombs for you."

The Clash: "Career opportunities"
From the album: "The Clash"

My heroes

I fully expected to find the capitol crippled and deserted today.

But it seems that the only reduction in foot traffic is down to fewer postal department people feeling inclined to turn up?

Mind you, the office is a tad Marie Celeste'ish, because the crew here travel in from far-flung fields.

Must remember to have a word with whoever it is that flings 'em...

The future's not bright. It's unremittingly grey.

Today's lyric:
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
"Lump was limp and lonely and needed a shove
Lump slipped on a kiss and tumbled into love
She spent her twenties between the sheets
Life limped along at subsonic speeds."

The Presidents of the USA: "Lump"
From the album: "The Presidents of the USA"

Short but very sweet

What the capitol needs is a big, red, floodlight-illuminated building at the end of London Bridge, to welcome you into the maw of the City, instead of the greystone edifices that swallow up hordes of commuters for hours on end.

Just something to brighten the gloom?

Sorry to end the week on a downer.

Enjoy your weekends, y'all.

Clod

Today's lyric:
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
"I can't keep my mind off you
No matter what I try and do
You don't know what I'm going through
Maybe you're coming too?
It's up to you."

Tea and Symphony: "Maybe my mind (with egg)"
From the album: "An asylum for the musically insane"

Magical mania

Usually - when you can see it - the dawn appears through the carriage windows, painting the sky in lovely warm tones of crimson, scarlet and purple.

This morning, though, the light was ethereally white, as if a fluorescent tube was being fired up with a dimmer switch.

Even though the winter is still unseasonably mild, it actually looked cold?

Truly, the cold light of day.

But whatever, another dawn means another day. And that can't be all bad.

Enjoy your weekends, y'all.
