And a pound of Harold* please?
Today's lyric:
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
"This boy wouldn't mind the pain;
Would always feel the same
If this boy gets you back again."
The Beatles: "This boy"
Hello me beauties. Long time?
Friay saw us pegging (inevitably?) towards Pompey again, having mopped up the mess from a failed washing machine spinner and in the sure knowledge we'll be needing to acquire
one of these pdq.
The trip to said hometown - inter alia - was to visit
our favourite pub-rock venue to see/hear the tribute band
The Silver Beatles. Mein host being very quick on the draw with his website, the link to the band has already been deleted and I've been totally unable to trace any website of their own?
But for six quid a head, they were damn fine entertainment. Almost as much as the inebriate outside when we left, barfing profusely while being watched by his heavily-racked girlyfriend.
"I don't remember eating that?" mused
Ol' Sparky as we passed by.
"Neiver did 'ee" added the girly.
And so on Saturday we drownded some King Rag* to no avail, but were joined by several like-minded masoch1sts like
this old boy here, braving the elements.
Mad. All mad.
In the evening, beverages were consumed until we drifted off to the comedy of one Billy Connolly.
Even
the cat kipped.
All in all, a damn fine time and thanks again, Mr and Mrs Buddy1.
*Harold = Harold Tate** = bait
** I have absolutely no idea who he is either?

Snap
Today's lyric:
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
"So quiet and peaceful
Tranquil and blissful
There's a kind of magic in the air
What a truly magnificent view
A breathtaking scene
With the dreams of the world
In the palm of your hand."
Queen: "A winter's tale"
From the album: "The Platinum Collection"

and I'm back in the room..
Tadette of confusion with mein host there, who decided to amalgamate Mrs.D's as-yet-unpublished website with mine, and so were billing her for my site?
Anyhoo - all sorted now and back to work/blogging, so thanks for being patient and some wreck-fishing pics to follow.

Not ratty on the West Mole
Today's lyric:
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
"He binds her wounds, he gives her food and calms the crying child
She gives him absolution then, across the great divide
He picks his way back through the broken China of her life
And there at the kerb the samaritan Serb turns..
Turns and waves.. goodbye
And each small candle lights a corner of the dark."
Roger Waters: "Each small candle"
From the album: "Flickering flame"

Amid a packed weekend of hen night, housework and house-guesting, we managed to hurl some king rag into the hazy sun off Brighton's Marina wall, with
Ol' Sparky (must get a new blog set up asap for him) netting a
Ballan wrasse(too small and definitely too bony for the pot - they're more epicene than epicure - so 'twas returned intact into the 'oggin) in a very civilised session on the west-facing mole of the marina. Then a long evening's wait for the relative spouses to return from their Michael George concert at Wembley's new stadium.
A 1:30 a.m. collapse into the cot on a school night (but at least I didn't have to drive back for two hours!)
Cheers Buddy for a nice couple of hours - despite the fact I didn't hook an effin' fish!

Loss
Today's lyric:
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
"Work away today, work away tomorrow.
Never comes the day for my love and me.
I feel her gently sighing as the evening slips away.
If only you knew what's inside of me now
You wouldn't want to know me somehow."
The Moody Blues: "Never comes the day"
From the album: "This is the Moody Blues"

My disappointment about not going wreck-fishing today is not so much the missed opportunity to catch some decent-sized fish but the thwarted plan to spend a day afloat with Number One Son and
Ol' Sparky.
I just hope the skipper didn't cry off too prematurely..

Against all odds
Today's lyric:
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
"I'll pull your arms tight behind you back
Use myself as weight
And wonder while you fade."
Moby: "The Great Escape"
From the album: "Play"

Despite the most serious of misgivings, we may well be
afloat tomorrow.
We're providing seven of the crew of eight and very much looking forward to fishing over a wreck in 250' of water.
But if it blows up again - as it did at the weekend - we'll be well pi55ed!

MIB + Two Hopes
Today's lyric:
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
"I remember when the air was sweet
And I brought home the fish to eat
Now we buy Spam from the grocery store
Cause you can eat the fish no more."
Ry Cooder & Little Village: "Do you want my job?"
From the album: "Little Village"

Buddy and I fished 'under the guns' of Frazer shore battery in Portsmouth on Saturday.
The day started cool and overcast, so sweatshirts were necessary, but pretty soon, as the sun came out, they came off, just as the whole male population of the city's nudists decided to occupy our patch of shingle for their tan-topping-upping.
Todgers to the left, todgers to the right.
All we caught was crabs...

It's not as short as I thought it was..
Today's lyric:
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
"Once you're inside they won't take you for a ride
They got a good deal for you and your automobile
For the right price they will sell you fuzzy dice
And leather hand grips for your steering whee ee al."
The Dickies: "Manny, Moe and Jack"
From the album: "Dawn of the Dickies"

This week was to have seen me take off most of what's left of last year's holidays, but events have proved otherwise and I'm now not off until Thursday, which leaves but one day to finish off laying the laminate floor in the kitchen
and clean up the fishing tackle in expectation of a day afloat on Saturday, eh
Buddy?

Oggin beckoning
Today's lyric:
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
"Looks like nothin's gonna change
Everything, still remains the same
I can't do what ten people tell me to do
So I guess I'll remain the same."
Otis Redding: "Dock of the bay"
From the album: "The very best of Otis Redding"

I really,
really want to go sea fishing.
Come on
Buddy1, when we sailin' ?
Enjoy your weekends, y'all.
