So many hits, so little time..

Birthday spent in the company of royalty (and prime friends). Nothing to top live music in great company.

The Little Prince eventually arrived on stage at nine, finally cutting off the worst dirgeful background music I've ever been forced to listen to for many a year.

But then he belted out all of the favourites, plus some from the new album, the cd of which was given to every ticketholder on arrival.

I hadn't appreciated quite how accomplished a pianist he is, but his solo spot on the keyboards proved he's not just an axe-man.

The series of encores included the 11-piece warm-up band (Fantastico??) so there were upwards of 20 people knocking out the finale.

What a showman...
